How MiTek turns RIBA-accredited CPD into specification influence

15 May 2026 | By NBS

Discover how MiTek uses the RIBA CPD Providers Network to support informed decision making and strengthen demand across the project lifecycle.

Starting point

MiTek joined the RIBA CPD Providers Network in 2021with a clear objective: to transform how specifiers and procurement teams make decisions about engineered timber systems. The intent was never visibility for its own sake. It was to deepen technical understanding of MiTek's software and engineered-connector portfolio, and to turn that understanding into qualified specification opportunities for the manufacturers it supports.

Why CPD and the Network

For MiTek, RIBA-accredited CPD provides a credible route into practices and house builders. Being a member of the Providers Network offers visibility and structure, enabling the business to engage architects in a recognised and trusted format.

How it delivers CPD

MiTek delivers a combination of webinars and face to face sessions, enabling engagement across different audiences and formats. Its latest CPD material was accredited in mid-December, further strengthening its education offer. Much of its engagement has come directly via ribacpd.com and Network activity, demonstrating the value of the platform itself in driving reach.

Measurable impact

The response gained momentum quickly following accreditation. Between mid-December and the end of February, 12 companies registered to engage in either a webinar or face-to-face session, with a further 3 in the pipeline.

In addition to strong CPD engagement, MiTek has strengthened its influence with those responsible for specification and procurement. By educating multiple decision makers across the project lifecycle, it has reinforced its market position and created tangible commercial opportunities for the manufacturers it represents.

In addition to in-practice CPD delivery, participation in RIBA CPD Events such as the Birmingham and London expos has further strengthened engagement. The structured event environment reduces overhead while providing access to a targeted, engaged audience, with delegates actively looking to expand their product knowledge.

Strategic value

For MiTek, CPD is an extension of the engineering partnership it offers, providing a way to support informed decision-making across the design, technical, and procurement stages, and reinforcing its role as a trusted engineering partner to the manufacturers, architects, and housebuilders shaping UK construction.

“For us, CPD is not a marketing tick-box. It is a way for us to educate those making specification and procurement decisions and build demand for the manufacturers we support.”

About MiTek

MiTek specialises in engineering software solutions for structural timber engineering, alongside the provision of steel connector products for timber engineered roof and floor systems.

Its customers manufacture roof trusses, open web floor joists including the widely used Posi-Joist, and timber wall framing systems. Roof trusses, often referred to as trussed rafters, are widely used in new housing across the UK and Ireland, and are increasingly specified within commercial and industrial projects.

Through its combination of software, engineered products and industry education, MiTek supports manufacturers and construction professionals in delivering efficient, compliant and high-performing timber-engineered structures.
