NBS, the platform for connected construction, welcomes Oscar AcousticLignacite and Syntec GRC to NBS Source. NBS Source is a cloud-based platform for construction products that is revolutionising construction specification.

Currently, NBS Source has 22,000 product listings from over 1,000 manufacturers. Syntec GRC, the bespoke Glassfibre Reinforced Concrete (GRC) specialist, is the first new NBS manufacturer partner to go live on the platform. Lignacite, the sustainable concrete block manufacturer and Oscar Acoustics, the acoustic specialists are both existing users of NBS, and are the first of its current manufacturer partners to enhance their product listings in NBS Source.

For the manufacturers, NBS Source will be an important way to reach their specifier audiences when they are making product decisions for their projects. With many specifiers currently working online from home, NBS Source provides manufacturers with a digital route to market.

With new building safety regulation expected later this year, NBS Source launched at an ideal time for the construction industry. This regulation will have a direct impact on construction product manufacturers, and how legally they will be required to present product information. They will be expected to provide more detailed data, use standardised systems and adopt a transparent attitude to data sharing.

While existing NBS Manufacturer partners have been given a listing on NBS Source, only those enhancing their product data will be able to unlock the platform’s full benefits. An enhanced listing allows specifiers to view and easily compare manufacturers’ products and detailed technical information.

Commenting on why they have chosen to list their products on NBS Source, Bob Faulding, Director at Syntec GRC says, “We are the only UK manufacturer offering GRC cladding which meets GRCA specification, European standards and the stringent demands of the American PCI quality system. We are also the only UK manufacturer that provides UKAS accredited testing across all our systems.

We hope that through NBS Source, we can bring awareness to the industry of the need for high levels of quality and process control when specifying and using this exciting composite - ultra high-quality glass fibre reinforced concrete.”

Lignacite, the sustainable concrete block manufacturer and a long-standing partner of NBS is working closely with leading architects, specifiers and builders’ merchants. Lignacite recognises the importance of ensuring that the industry is up to date with clear and concise information on their concrete blocks.

Commenting on how NBS Source has helped their customers, Nick Franks, Sales & Marketing Manager at Lignacite says, “The NBS Source platform has given Lignacite the opportunity to expand on existing data, allowing customers to download information in the required industry standard and view our products in BIM format. It’s an excellent architectural tool for the industry.”

Ben Hancock, Managing Director of Oscar Acoustics, adds, “With our extensive range of fire-rated, recycled, seamless acoustic decorative finish products, we want to reach architects operating in various sectors. NBS puts us right in front of our target audience when they’re specifying.

The way that NBS has standardised product information in NBS Source makes it easier for specifiers to compare products. If a company’s products have environmental, fire and other noteworthy attributes, it gives them a chance to stand out from their competitors and potentially hold onto the spec with less risk of substitution with an inferior product.

Commenting on the relationship, Lee Jones, Head of Manufacturer Solutions at NBS, said, “Construction is undergoing a seismic shift based upon two key things: increased connectivity and better quality data. The industry is utterly fragmented, and it is too hard to reach many of the different constituencies. This includes specifiers. Until now, they were often targeted at the wrong time with irrelevant information. Now with Source, manufacturers can reach specifiers at the right time when they’re looking to solve a problem.”

He adds, “NBS Source speeds up decision making for specifiers, as manufacturers are now providing their data in an easily comparable format on this powerful product search engine. This will turbo-charge construction product marketing.

NBS Source for manufacturers provides

  • A powerful marketing platform to reach specifiers at the right time
  • An impressive platform for manufacturers and specifiers to prepare for the changes to the regulatory framework with standardised and high-quality digital product data
  • Allows manufacturers to build and maintain relationships with specifiers right across the lifecycle of a construction project, and beyond
  • An increased, more targeted exposure of manufacturers products using digital means in front of their target audience
  • Specifiers and manufacturers can collaborate on specifications in real-time
  • As all of these specification decisions are being captured in the cloud, this intelligence can be aggregated and then delivered back as real insight to the manufacturer
