Insulation Manufacturers Association (IMA) is delighted to launch a new partnership with NBS, the product data and specification platform for the construction industry, to assist with peer review and share high-quality technical information.
It is widely understood that insulation is the single most important aspect of energy efficiency in a building and with almost half of the UK’s total carbon footprint generated from energy used in buildings, improvements to the built environment present a substantial opportunity to reduce emissions both quickly and effectively.
NBS users will benefit enormously from a greater understanding of the different elements of a building’s fabric as well as the importance that the correct installation of high-quality thermal insulation will have in reducing the environmental impact of a building and reducing energy consumption.
IMA is at the forefront of this technical knowledge, with access to a wide range of manufacturers offering innovative solutions for the built environment. This new relationship will help roll out this knowledge and ensure the full benefits of a building’s insulation strategy deliver the very best energy performance outcome for our buildings.
Simon Storer, Chief Executive of IMA said: “We have long advocated the need for a fabric first approach in order to meet the binding net zero 2050 targets and being able to bring NBS users as much information as possible at specification point is crucial in making the right choices to meet or exceed the current regulations.”
Sascia Elliot, Head of Partnerships, NBS added: “We hope through our partnership that we can shine a light on the wide range of applications for PIR and PUR insulation materials, as manufacturers look to develop new technologies to improve performance and specification for building insulation. By working directly with IMA we can bring up to the minute technical information to our customers and specifiers, ensuring information reaches the market place with one voice.”
Commenting on the knowledge sharing, Lee Jones, Head of Manufacturer Solutions, NBS said: “This partnership marks another step in our aim to provide the most up-to-date technical content for our specification customers. It’s through collaboration and knowledge sharing that we can achieve industry best practice and having IMA on board will only strengthen our offering. For our customers, it means that they will now have all of this information at their fingertips, via NBS Chorus and NBS Source, allowing them to make more informed decisions and improve the efficiency of the specification process.
NBS will be holding a series of workshops between the NBS technical authors and the technical team at IMA.
