When the COVID-19 pandemic forced everyone to adapt last year, we moved our events offering entirely online. As part of that move, we rolled out an extensive range of webinars throughout 2020 with something for everybody in the built environment.  As we enter another lockdown we’ve highlighted a few webinars that proved extremely popular and useful during the first two lockdowns. For specifiers, these webinars also count towards the minimum amount of CPD points required to retain their RIBA membership.

Here’s some of those webinars that are still pertinent today and will continue to be useful throughout 2021…

1. An Introduction to the RIBA Plan of Work 2020

Stephen Hamil, Innovation Director at NBS, was joined by Dale Sinclair, Director of Technical Practice at AECOM, to explore the RIBA Plan of Work 2020 – the definitive model for the design and construction process of buildings.  During the webinar they gave an introduction to the RIBA Plan of Work 2020 and shared industry feedback on the 2013 plan, as well as updates to the 2020 plan. 

2. Understanding the Draft Building Safety Bill

In July 2020, the Government published the draft Building Safety Bill: the most radical proposed overhaul of building safety regulations for decades. Paul Swaddle, Head of Technical Solutions at NBS, discussed the draft Bill in more detail and explained the key takeaways. 

3. Culture change in the industry

At the NBS Construction Leaders’ Summit last October, collaboration was a key theme throughout, and it was highlighted as a key enabler for cultural change to help the industry to thrive in the future.

In this webinar Richard Waterhouse, Chief Strategy Officer at NBS, was joined by industry experts Tina Pringle, Director of Technical Information at NBS, Paul Morrell, former Chief Construction Advisor to the UK Government, and Phil Bernstein, Associate Dean and Professor Adjunct at the Yale School of Architecture to discuss the need for cultural change in the construction industry. 

4. Marketing Masterclass for Manufacturers: 2021 Marketing Strategy 

We brought together a panel of marketing experts to help you design your marketing strategy for 2021. 

The webinar covered the most effective strategies and activity to consider in 2021 as well as learnings from 2020. The panel included Izy Herrera, Marketing Manager at NBS; Jo Willmot, PR Director at The Think Tank; Chris Coulson, Communications Director at MediaWorks; Cathy Barlow, Managing Director at Smith Goodfellow and Kay Porter, Managing Director at Smart Marketing Works. 

5. How NBS can help you in 2021

Our first webinar of 2021 explained how NBS can help you to streamline your working practices and help you to work more efficiently in 2021. During the session, Dr Stephen Hamil showcased NBS Chorus, our cloud-based specification platform, alongside NBS Source, our manufacturer product platform and demonstrated how they work together to help you create connected construction information.

This year, the ability to collaborate remotely and efficiently will remain essential for the whole of the construction industry. 
We’ve worked with a number of businesses to help them adapt to the next normal.  International real estate agency Hollis and London-based practice J Foster Architects are among those who have been reaping the benefits of NBS Chorus. 

Chorus for Manufacturers enables building product manufacturers to produce digital specifications for their own products in the format that specifiers require. The platform also allows manufacturers to collaborate directly with their clients on specifications within the project environment.
