When the pandemic disrupted the way businesses could offer training and workshops, Roca embraced the advantages of the RIBA CPD Providers Network to innovate its successful RIBA CPD programme. We caught up with Roca’s Marketing Executive Saoirse Walsh to find out more.
Since 1917, Roca has expertly crafted products in the bathroom space. In addition to its ceramic, brassware, furniture, showering and bathing product range, the company also offers a completely bespoke programme for design flexibility. With over 24 000 employees and 85 production plants, Roca is well positioned to provide industry-leading guidance and training to architects.
As the pandemic transformed the ways in which many businesses had to operate, there was a mass increase in digital adoption. For Roca, a long-term member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network, this change meant embracing RIBA content development advice to create digital materials and guidance on sustainable bathroom design, so that it could attract larger audiences than ever before.
Roca has been a member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network since 2013, when it first began developing its CPD programme. The choice to join the network acknowledged the RIBA’s reputation in the training and support of architects throughout the UK.
The diverse range of topics offered by the RIBA Core Curriculum, including sustainability and advances in technology, ensures that the content delivered is relevant, and that the learning outcomes for participants are achieved. Roca’s CPD programme has been presented to over 2000 architects and interior designers across the world, giving them unmatched brand exposure and a position of industry authority.
Roca’s CPD programme focuses on key issues related to bathroom design and product development – offering the latest information, tools and guidance for planning bathroom projects.
'Being part of the RIBA CPD Providers Network allows us to play a more significant role in the architectural community in the UK. Over the years, the Roadshows and various other CPD related events have provided Roca with new audiences and ways to deliver our programme’
Transitioning to remote training
One of Roca’s most popular offerings is the guided tour of its flagship showroom: the Roca London Gallery by Zaha Hadid Architects. During the tour, attendees have the opportunity to learn the fascinating story of how the architecture took shape. However, the 2020 pandemic meant that it could no longer run these in-person tours.
Roca was able to transform how it offered presentations and tours by creating virtual versions as a result of content development workshops held by the RIBA.
Saoirse Walsh, Marketing Executive at Roca, noted how being a part of the RIBA CPD Providers Network has been a beneficial and rewarding experience. The network’s digital marketing expertise allowed Roca to: build digital communication tools that could expand audience reach; cope with pandemic disruption; and offer advice, practical solutions and training materials to architects in the UK and internationally.
'We would highly recommend joining the RIBA CPD Providers Network. The tools provided in digital marketing and content development has been invaluable. In addition, the team behind the network are extremely engaged, regularly communicating to keep us informed of industry news and promptly accommodating us in any way they can'.
