Construction has had to adapt to the new normal COVID-19 has created over the past few months, and architects needing to meet their CPD requirements is no exception. Seminars which were once typically taught in training rooms have become virtual, with online and on-demand content proving the most popular it has ever been.
We caught up with Michelle Grant from ICB (Waterproofing), a longstanding member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network, to find out a little more about ICB's products and its transition to delivering virtual CPD, and the benefits that have come with it.
Here’s what Michelle has to say…
ICB (Waterproofing) Ltd was established back in 1984 to handle the installation of new to market, alwitra single-ply waterproofing membrane. As demand grew, the business decided to move into distribution and expand the product range.
Today, ICB offers a range of waterproofing solutions including single ply membranes (Evalon & SECUTOP), high performance bitumen systems (STRATA & De Boer) and liquid applied waterproofing systems (FLEET PMMA & Maris Polymers PU), used for a variety of applications, all installed by our nationwide network of over 500 in-house trained Approved Contractors.
Knowing that building a relationship with architects and designers is key, back in 2006 we took the decision to reach out to NBS and join the RIBA CPD Providers Network. This enabled us to reinforce our reputation as a professional CPD provider, able to meet the needs of RIBA registered architects in relevant areas of curricula, whilst simultaneously allowing us to educate specifiers about our products.
Being part of this network has allowed us to reach many more practices who only require seminars that are RIBA approved. It is a pleasure to be able to provide knowledge and expertise whilst enabling architects to add to their CPD portfolio. The network also ties in nicely with our NBS Source profile, showcasing the NBS & BIM resources we have available.
We’ve been RIBA approved since 2006 and over those 14 years, this has helped expose us to so many architects’ practices year on year.
Michelle Grant, Marketing Executive
ICB (Waterproofing) Ltd
We’ve always enjoyed sharing the knowledge and expertise of our Regional Technical Managers in a face to face environment. At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, we could never have predicted how popular moving to an online platform would be.
By providing our CPD content remotely, not only have we seen a fantastic uptake and interest, but we’ve been able to deliver more sessions, and reach more architects. The feedback we’ve received has been phenomenally positive and it’s great that we can still issue CPD certificates during this challenging time.
Holding our CPD seminars online has generated an incredible reach of over 1000 participants from practices all over the country, a number which could never have been achieved in a year, let alone a couple of months.
