Cornwall-based manufacturer Clayworks creates high-performance, sustainable clay plasters. Find out more about Clayworks products and why this wall finishes manufacturer joined NBS.
Clayworks, which creates high-performance, sustainable clay plasters, is now live on NBS Source. We caught up with Marketing Manager Clare Whitney to find out more about its products and why Clayworks joined NBS. Here’s what Clare had to say.
Clayworks Clay Plasters provide a unique and breathable finish for internal walls and ceilings. Based in Cornwall, we are the only clay plaster manufacturers in the world to have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). We blend unfired clays with minerals and pigments to create high-performance, sustainable dried plaster mixes which can be applied with the same tools and skills as other plasters.
Our products are compostable and don’t contain any toxic ingredients, VOCs or formaldehydes. They also regulate relative humidity, which allows buildings to breathe and absorb toxins, odours and acoustics. The plasters can also passively regulate temperature and are easily repaired. Providing a unique aesthetic and seamless finish, Clayworks’ smooth finishes offer a depth of cloudy tone and texture that cannot be found in conventional wall finishes.
In the past, we had always worked directly with specifiers but we signed up for NBS as more and more architects had been asking us for our NBS profile in order to make their lives easier.
It’s such a humble material, but there are a vast quantity of colours and textures as well as technical, sustainable and healthy building material associated with clay plasters. Architects wanted this material to be readily available and easy to incorporate into their specifications. NBS Source allows us to make that happen by hosting all of our product information and literature together in one place.
"Our job is to make things easier for specifiers and it’s so important to us that we can work with a platform that fully understands our audience’s needs which NBS Source does.” – Clare Whitney, Clayworks
